Trends In Latin: Insights and Approaches (TILIA) I

Seminars in Latin Language and Literature

Appel à contributions
Date limite : 5/12/2021

The TILIA (Trends In Latin: Insights and Approaches) seminars are a joint initiative of the Department of Humanistic Studies of the University of Naples ‘Federico II' and the Scuola Superiore Meridionale. The seminars represent a moment of scientific growth and enrichment as well as a privileged observatory for the most promising research trends in the field of Latin language and literature.
A younger scholar will present a paper in front of an expert discussant, namely a specialist in the subject of the paper.
The seminars will take place on a regular basis (10 annual meetings, divided into two series).
This first call for proposals aims at selecting the first 6 young speakers in the first series of seminars; a second call will be released in the spring of 2022. The discussant will be chosen by the Scientific Committee in accordance with the selected proposals.

We welcome proposals from graduate students, PhD students, grant-holders, postdoctoral fellows, and, in general, young scholars in Latin language and literature who do not hold a tenure position either in Italy or abroad.
The papers may address any subject, as long as it is in the field of Latin language and literature, from its origins up to late antiquity. Papers should be approximately 45 minutes long, and shall be in either Italian or English. The seminars will take place in Naples; however, they will be delivered in blended mode.
Reimbursement to the selected younger speakers for their travel and accommodation expenses will be available.

Proposals must include:
1) a curriculum vitae (including a list of publications and, where possible, the publications themselves in .pdf);
2) an abstract of max. 300 words. The abstract should indicate clearly: the title, contents and aims of the paper; it should also indicate the methodological approach as well as the reference texts.

Proposals, including the above mentioned documentation, must be sent to the following email address: TILIAtrends[at]gmail.com by 5 December 2021.
