TALANTA: Call for Articles

As of January 2021 TALANTA, the Journal of the Dutch Archaeological and Historical Society (http://www.talanta.nl/) has a new team of editors and invites submissions to the journal.

After decades of service for TALANTA the editors J.P. Stronk and M.D. de Weerd have stepped down. Three new editors will take over: Diederik Burgersdijk, Lecturer at University College Utrecht; Milinda Hoo, Assistant Professor at the University of Freiburg; and Pieter Houten, Research Associate at the University of Hamburg.

Submissions
We invite submissions of articles (max. 10,000 words) for TALANTA. The journal publishes papers in English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish, although preference is given to articles in the English language. Two members of the editorial board (who have affinity with the relevant subject) and one or two additional anonymous reviewers read papers received for publication. Based on their reviews, the Editors of TALANTA will then decide whether to accept or reject the submitted paper for publication. Authors should expect a decision within two months after submission of their manuscript.

The author guidelines and style guide can be found on our webpage. For inquiries and to send submissions, contact us via editors[at]talanta.nl. We are still accepting submissions for TALANTA 53 (2021).

Reviews
We invite publishers to send us books for review. These can be send to:

Universiteit van Amsterdam
Att. dr. D.W.P. Burgersdijk - Room A2.02A
Singel 425
NL-1012 WP Amsterdam
The Netherlands

The book will be sent to a qualified reviewer, who is asked to review the book within three months upon receipt of the manuscript. Once the review is received back and accepted, TALANTA will publish the review in the issue planned next.

About TALANTA
TALANTA is an Amsterdam-based, peer-reviewed journal for the study of Antiquity (ISSN: 0165-2486). Founded in 1969, it is published by the Dutch Archaeological and Historical Society, an independent body of Dutch scholars in the fields of Mediterranean Archaeology, Classical and Ancient Near Eastern Philology, and Ancient History.

The journal is devoted to the study of the ancient world in its widest sense, embracing the Mediterranean world, the Near East, the Iranian world, and East-West relations, from the Bronze Age to Late Antiquity. It contains a broad variety of studies in Ancient History, Archaeology, Art History, and Classical and Near Eastern Philology, as well as a book review section. The supplementum ponticum and the supplementum epigraphicum mediterraneum additionally offer a range of studies on the history and archaeology of the Black Sea region and the various languages of the ancient Mediterranean.

TALANTA is a Green Open Access journal. We welcome articles and book reviews that emphasize the importance of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research. We particularly invite contributions that engage with the intersection of archaeological and historical studies, as well as those that critically interact with social and archaeological theory.

We look forward to receiving submissions.

With best wishes,

The Editors,

Diederik Burgersdijk
Milinda Hoo
Pieter Houten
