Le Commentaire sur l'élégie de Tarquinio Galluzzi publié en 1621 constitue selon toute vraisemblance le premier traité théorique d'importance consacré au genre élégiaque. Avant lui, on trouve surtout des passages plutôt succincts dans différentes poétiques renaissantes, qui abordent l'élégie de la même manière qu'une série d'autres formes plus ou moins brèves comme l'ode, l'épigramme, la satire, la poésie pastorale, etc., ou bien des mentions et remarques éparses chez les éditeurs, traducteurs et commentateurs des poètes élégiaques de l'Antiquité qui reprennent pour la plupart les grammairiens grecs et les quelques vers sur l'élégie de l'Épître aux Pisons d'Horace.

El volumen presenta el estudio, edición crítica, traducción y comentario de las secciones hoy conservadas de los Excerpta sancti Gregorii de Tajón de Zaragoza (CPL 1269), un comentario exegético a la Escritura elaborado a partir de extractos de Gregorio Magno. Su edición y estudio es importante para completar el conocimiento de la mal comprendida producción literaria de Tajón, pero también para profundizar en la tradición indirecta de las obras de Gregorio Magno y, en concreto, en la ramificación hispánica de la misma. Este volumen también incluye el estudio, edición, traducción y comentario de algunas obras, en su mayoría inéditas, que circulan paralelamente a los Excerpta y que podrían ser de la autoría de Tajón o de su escuela: De aenigmatibus in Salomone, De muliere forti, Commentarius in Ecclesiasten I, Commentarius in Ecclesiasten II, Alia excerpta in Proverbia.

An edition and English translation of the Speculum Stultorum (The Mirror for Fools), a long Latin beast epic written near the end of the twelfth century by a monk of Christ Church, Canterbury. This was one of the most popular works of the Middle Ages, a favourite of Chaucer, Gower, and Henryson, and was copied for over three centuries, with a circulation extending as far as eastern Europe. It is not only a milestone in the history of medieval beast epic, but a rich source of information about contemporary life and events at Canterbury. The work is dedicated to William Longchamp, who was Richard I's chancellor, and the significance of this fact is shown.
